Well, we know for sure that technology is taking over everything nowadays! We live in a very modern world which has made lots of progress in the last couple of years. Some people think this is good but others believe this can be a bit scary…
In the past, we did not have apparels such as computers, interactive boards or iPads in any classroom but today they are more and more frequent. They are so present in our lives that we are almost dependant on them which can be bad in some cases. For example, what do you do if the system is down at your school? Many people panic but others are more resourceful and they look for alternatives straight away. Also, what happens when the students themselves know more than you? This can be tricky, right? Especially in our world where most teenagers are technological natives and they seem to know everything.
I do think that technology can be very positive for learning in many ways, as it makes everything more interactive and engaging, but I still like and respect some traditional ways of learning such as worksheets, exercise books, dictionaries and board games. In fact, it would be a pity if they disappeared as they are key in the learning process, don’t you agree?
I believe that establishing a balance between both modern and traditional methods is essential as we know that not all students respond well to technology. Learners vary and it is our job to adapt our teaching so that it suits them! At the end of the day this is all that matters! This is why we are here! With or without technology we need to be able to fulfil their needs and ensure that they learn as much as possible and make outstanding progress.
What do you think? Looking forward to hear from you, please leave us your comments!
